How would you pronounce my last name?
I have 25 years to pronounce my last name (Roehmholdt) when Rome picks, but I have only recently surnames found variations of my back and followed them to the various German forms they are: Röhmholdt Rehmholdt Röhmholt Rehmholt I try to narrow, as my Name has changed since my ancestors came to the U.S. from Germany. A Google search finds evidence of a "Röhmholdt", but I would love to history of the family know. Cheers!
Probably had an umlaut over the o. I can not do that on my computer, but it seems you are dealing with a Umlaut wrote. That is, the o English is pronouced more like an E. For some strange reason when they translate German names with an umlaut over the O, they oe do it. For example, Hermann Goring's name with an umlaut Goering was and is pronouced Gehring. I know he is not the best example to use but this is the first I think my head, at the top. I might also mention, i f there were no "t" but it ended names pronouced with a "d" in German Language still, it would be "Holt". The "d" at the end of sylliable is like a "t" sound in English. A "b" at the end of a Syllable as a "p" sound in English.
