Hannibal Safari family size rooftop tent set up and get your wife to go camping

I want to show you how easy it is to set up the Hannibal Family Size rooftop tent. I’m doing the video just upriver from the really cool town of Truth or Consequences, NM along the Rio Grande. We’re about 100 miles from Mexico, so the river is real clean. I don’t know why more people don”t have these things. I saw my first one in the Sahara Desert back in ’05. Loved it and now I own it.

Trying to talk Lori into letting us take the Defender + tent for a little overnight camping. If you can get Suzette to convince her, we’re there. Bet she can …

You can borrow it anytime. You’ll probably want to take it soon before it gets too uncomfortable at night.

” My wife Is hot ” That always gives me a chuckle. However your Defender 110 is a damn good looking
restoration. Pity they stopped making them. NOW thanks to the tent you can take your family and ” hot wife ” camping. It’s all good. : – )

@0100OO i think they still make them. you just cant get them in the US anymore.

never did get to see your wife….seems like a great tent. id like something like that when i get my D90..but it seems like it would be the entire length of a 90, thereby not allowing me to carry anything else on the roof.

are you sure you want your wife to come along ?

Too much faffing about. I bought a 3m x 6m pop up gazebo off ebay. Up in less than a minute and the car sits at one end.
Sidewalls down it affords as much privacy as any other tent. Back seats down in my car and inflate double bed (pumps itself up in under a minute) sleeps me & wife. During the day camping cord suspends the bed high in the roof of the gazebo.
Cheap to buy, easy to set up, to load/unload – packing up in the rain is a breeze as you are dry right up to dropping the gazebo.

Thanks for the great video. Just wondering how this tent holds up in the wind and rain? That’s my only concern with being up so high. Have you had any problems? Thanks! ~ Mickey

who the hell wants his wife to come camping??! its all about beer and buddies!

@0100OO In Europe the Defender 110 can still be purchased so the production isn’t stopped. But possible they stopped shipping them to the US due to environmental (?) legislation. But if you buy one second hand from the year 2008 you have one from the same production stage. By the way this is a great roof tent.

Oh yeah – I’d just LOVE to arse around with that in the pissing rain! And where do you cook? sit and relax? That out in the rain as well? Fair weather only and after a few beers I’d like to see him get down those ladders in the night for a piss!

So where is this hot wife? I’ll just keep camping out of my high top conversion van. That I converted into a camper. That’s what got my hot wife to go with me. A nice comfortable couch, that converts into a nice comfortable bed. Not to mention the portapotty I through in the very back, that helped a whole lot too.
