Guittard Shadows (2010)
Jim Guittard Taylor TC581 December 10, 2010 Guittard Shadows — Short Film Project I chose to do a short film for the project. It is my first short film and I have entitled it “Guittard Shadows”. It’s autobiographical and deals with some issues that I have dealt with in the Christian Life. At an early age I became fascinated by the tape recorder and being creative. I used to prank call radio stations to see if I could get on the air. I come from a “well-to-do” southern Texas family full of lawyers and doctors. I have kind of rambled around trying to get out from under the shadow of their legacy. It has not been easy but at an early age I became a follower of Christ and music and art was always a good way of coping for me. The point I hope to come across in the short film is that kids really do know what they want to do at an early age. I think I was not an exception. The big problem was that I could not voice my opinions and wishes so I basically went along with family wishes or advice for a long time. This is not always the way to go. As we have talked about in class, it is really a time of change and no one really knows what the future holds. I have not lived the routine life and probably this is a little hard for some people to understand. I was researching my Great Grandfather because I felt that he was the last Guittard in my line to really do anything new.
