Family Time Use on family history work

The summer months bring families together for meetings and vacations. Winter holidays are another time when it is typical for you and your loved ones get together. During these events, often filled with chaos, family drama and silly games, why not have the opportunity to go away all together about your family history. Take your time wallowing together to carry family photos and memories as you go along, are sure that you do not lose Way to get your Aunt Ida identification of all the cousins from that family Fading image from the last century. One of our clients, Mark, in a family legacy production history of his clan journey from war-torn Poland, Northern Michigan and its new Living in America invests. For the project, we interviewed more than 40 of his relatives from around the country and gathered family photos and archives from all of them in the process. Mark wanted to something unique and special for this gift to make huge extended family with its history films, so he organized and arranged a family reunion like no other.

He rented out the local art auditorium in the city, where the family began in America and show the films we had made for his family. There were over 150 members of all ages who flew or drove in the presence of different States. Needless to say, it was a family reunion for all family celebrations end and left them all with a deeper sense of belonging and enriches family pride. Not to forget how recent generations learned the truth about their ancestors and how they got where they today.

Here are some basic suggestions to help you on the history of your family project started in important family events:

1. Pool family photos and label. Use a pen, the letters do not bleed until the filing on the back. is starting with the older photos photos unmarked may not be recognizable in a few generations. Set aside time for the computer-savvy family members can make to scan photos onto CDs, photo slideshows and scrapbooks.

2 Have a movie night together, you see your home movies. People are often surprised to see what they had stored in. Maybe is your Aunt Jean is the sixth video from your Birthday party. If there are movies at home, you want to keep, you can send them to a digital video company for the long-term transferred to storage.

3. Write down notes about your family history while you spend time with them. You can Notes to Uncle remember the stories you want and to hear from your parents, grandparents, aunts, to voice this interview with a video recorder or camcorder to another, quieter time.

4. Gather family facts. Buy a simple family tree book, or bring a blank notebook and make columns for birth dates, locations, wedding and graduation dates. You can use this as the basis for genealogical research later use.

5. Attach a voice recorder or a camcorder and record the memories. Even if the scene is chaotic, you will capture some moments that your family Treasure.
