And Tango Makes Three

Author’s Note: All of the events in this story are true. Roy and Silo are called chinstrap penguins because of the delicate line of black feathers that loops under their beaks, as if to hold a hat in place. After years of living side by side in the Central Park Zoo, they discovered each other in 1998 and they have been a couple ever since. Tango, their only chick, was born from an egg laid by another penguin couple named Betty and Porkey. That couple had often hatched their own eggs, but they had never been able to care for more than one at a time. In 2000, when Betty laid two fertile eggs, Rob Gramzay decided to give Roy, Silo, and one of those eggs a chance to become a family. If you go to the Central Park Zoo, you can see Tango and her parents splashing about in the penguin house along with their friends, including Nipper, Squawk, Charlie, Wasabi, and Piwi. There are forty-two chinstrap penguins in the Central Park Zoo and over ten million chinstraps in the world. But there is only one Tango. by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, illustrated by Henry Cole Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2005

Thank you for making this video. This story is very adorable, I love it. <3 A shame people feel the need to 'ban' it over something such as two people (or in this case penguins) of the same gender who love one another.

Love is love, no matter the gender!

I think it is awful that closed minded people think that this book should be banned. It is a beautiful touching story. As someone who works with children, we have to teach children to understand and be respectful of all types of families. ignorance begets fear and fear begets violence, so the best way to teach open mindedness is to teach.

  10. 906087 says:

That was a nice story. Why is it banned? There is nothing sexual in this book at all. It’s about two gay penguins that want to have a baby. All it does is teach kids how alternative families can work.

  11. PopLuverGal says:

@Salnax Thats because of those stupid homophobic parents!

  12. PopLuverGal says:

    Thanks dude

and then a bunch of skinhead pinguins broke into Roy and Silo’s Nest. They beat out the shit of Silo, and killed Roy when he tried to protect Tango. Then they ate her. In the morning all the animals were very very sad. To protest againtst this violent act, they all became gay. The end.

  14. XpeacexluvxjonasX says:

I really liked the little annotation toward the end of the video. “It’s sad when the “family values” of a few trump the value of family for all” This is such a beautiful interpretation of the senseless banning of this book.

  15. DogsneedpIeasuretoo says:

How they ban this but not the BIBLE?????

  16. DogsneedpIeasuretoo says:

    @WOLFWARR1
Aren’t you ashamed that your god has killed millions of humans for stupid reasons? How can you support your god?

  17. simsgirlgem says:

This is sad that a simple story is banned by narrowed minded people
